A powerful and timely interview on Istoryang Katoliko with Fr. Leon Pereira, O.P. — Dominican friar and former Chaplain to the English-speaking pilgrims in Medjugorje.

In this exclusive conversation, Fr. Leon openly shares what really happened during the recent attack on Our Lady’s shrine in Medjugorje. He describes the desecration of the statues, the fire at the outdoor altar, and the shocking words written on Our Lady’s image. He also reveals his personal reaction — how he had to sit down and cry when he first saw the photos.

Fr. Leon further shares his own encounter with Our Lady in 1991, the rapid restoration of the statues, the surprising atmosphere of joy and peace that followed, and why he continues to defend the profound spiritual fruits of Medjugorje. He also speaks about forgiveness, praying for the perpetrator, and the deeper meaning of this painful event.

This is not an ordinary interview. It is honest, moving, and filled with spiritual clarity about Our Lady, the reality of spiritual attack, and the beauty of the Catholic faith.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have any background to the suspect who done this father?

SPEAKER_00

The the suspect. Well, I I only know what everyone else knows, you know. So what I did is I did a grok search for Polish newspaper, Polish media, what they had to say. So you there's a man, I won't give his name, but this particular man, the Polish media seems to think it's him. And he's 31 years old. Came here when he was about 22. He walked here from Warsaw. You know, 1300 kilometers. He walked on foot, did a pilgrimage here. He had depression and some other mental disorders, I think, and he credited that with a change in his life. I think he had a mix messed up childhood, and there's drug issues and also juvenile delinquency of some kind, or detention in a juvenile facility, etc. You know, so he had a very troubled childhood, and so he walked here, he streamed it on Facebook, he wrote a book with the same title, appeared in a movie in Poland, etc., you know, and then he was giving talks. Yesterday, the day he did all this, happens to be his wedding anniversary. So I don't know if that's relevant, but it does strike me as more than a more than coincidence. But here we would just be speculating, so we'll leave that there. Okay. His message is I saw online people are saying it's a Protestant attack on Our Lady and this and that. I don't think so. He put it was a mishmash of things. He said things against Our Lady and Jesus only, and then he's also he seems to be against the visionaries here, and but then he also attacked the cross and he burned the altar. You know, none of that makes sense. He's it doesn't fit together. So I I don't think it's charitable or kind or accurate to label him as a Protestant or as his actions as though they were driven by his alleged Protestantism. I don't think he's warning from between four o'clock and six in the morning, like from the fields on the way to Cross Mountain. Cross Mountain is the big mountain here with a huge cross on the top, and with the way of the cross on all the way to the top. And I saw a young girl standing with the crosses made of this very bright light. Her hands, her face, her clothes, everything made of this light. I think she was alive and watching us. I was not alone more than me and my friend Kevin. We both saw her. Um you should interview Kevin. I don't think he'll thank me because he's very shy about these things. His children heard it, and he said thanks a lot. He said at the dinner table his kids were looking at him like he was some kind of freak. Because he never told his immediate family, um, certainly not his kids. And yeah, so we watched this young girl who was watching us, but I don't think this was too unusual. I mean, a lot of local people in those days certainly have seen her, but I don't think many of them talk about it. They're very private here in Heads of the Father and of the Son, Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Heavenly Father, send us your Holy Spirit, guide us in this conversation to fulfill your holy will and to give glory to you. We ask this for the greater glory of your name, and through the intercession of our Lady, Queen of Peace, St. Joseph, St. Michael, and all our patron saints, through Christ our Lord. Amen. Amen.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. So welcome back, Father Liam Pereira, OP, former chaplain to English speaking pilgrims in Majigori and a Dominican friar. So good to see you again, Father. Good to be here.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you, Adrian.

SPEAKER_01

Truly honor and grateful to have you with us, especially in these difficult days for Mejugori, Father.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, uh, so you heard the news. I just I just saw that Fox News has also reported it now.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yes, but it's very saddening uh on what happened, but thanks be to God, uh the statue has been restored, very beautiful. How they make it as new.

SPEAKER_00

All the statues, all the statues were restored. I mean, to summarize what happened yesterday on the 28th of July, someone, I think just one person here in Majigore, he attacked the shrine. The on the hill of apparitions, there's a marble statue donated by the Korean pilgrims 25 years ago or something. And he defaced it, spray painted her hands and feet and uh face and on the back as well, and then put all sorts of funny writings around there: devil in a skirt in English and Polish, and I think maybe Croatian as well, and Jesus only, and then some I think scriptural verses, Jeremiah 14, which was actually the reading that day. And then what else did he do? Oh, and there on the hill, he covered the lights with something red, so it was all glowing red. It looked very eerie and scary, and I think he also put up a banner denouncing the visionaries here, although he doesn't completely get their names right, which is strange. You know, he there's six visionaries and he lists them, but he one of the names he gets wrong, and he puts her sister instead, which is also strange, you know. Like, and he put there in Polish, they are frauds, I have evidence, blah, blah, blah. So that was on the shro the hill, the base of the hill at the blue cross, the two statues there of Our Lady, uh, which are not too far apart, he defaced both of them again with the black spray paint. And there's also the peace cross, you know, on Apparition Hill. When you go up a joyful mystery way, there's this cross where Our Lady had appeared on the third day of the Apparition, where she said, Peace, peace, peace, only peace. For peace, uh the peace must exist between man and God, and between man and his fellow men. For this, it is necessary to pray, to fast, to confess, be reconciled, etc. So the place where she gave that message, also he did some graffiti on that cross. And then he is he came to the church and the outside altar where we have the big masses, which every evening usually he had bought gasoline from a petrol station and hiked all the way here with it, and uh poured it over the carpet and all that and set it on fire. I think you can see videos of this, the CCTV footage. And um then he disappeared, and that that was all in the early morning, between two and four in the morning. And then he was caught around midday, not too far from here, or at least I should say, a man was detained, the main suspect, um in a field near Libushki, near Cherno. Okay, it's not far at all from Mejgory. And um he was laughing, I think, when he was arrested, this man. Anyway, it's all very mysterious, and I think the internet is full of speculation about his motives. Everyone, of course, wants to know. Here we were all shocked, deeply shocked by this. You know, we'd never heard of such a thing here at all all these years. And then already within on the same day yesterday, by yesterday night, almost all the statues had been cleaned up. Right. By, you know, have you heard of the Chinoclo community? I heard this for the first time, Father. I just heard it now. Yeah. They uh they founded in Italy, they have one of their houses here. They're it it's a house for people with addictions who are trying to leave their addictions behind, you know, and um they live in community, a life of prayer and penance and a lot of hard work. So those boys, many of them former drug addicts, they are the ones who led by uh Jelko, one of the guys, he they cleaned up all the statues. I mean, the main statue in the heat, the heat is incredible. You know, here it's today, I think it's 43 degrees or something, officially 36, but I think it's very hot. So they're out there in the heat the whole day cleaning. Um and then this morning I saw, you know, like all the statues have been cleaned. Um and almost all of them are in place. The the smaller wooden one they're taken away to clean indoors, but right now it's too hot to go out there, so they'll wait till after sunset, after 8 p.m. or so, and put it back.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have any background to the suspect who done this father?

SPEAKER_00

The the suspect. Well, I I only know what everyone else knows, you know. So what I did is I did a grok search for Polish newspaper, Polish media, what they had to say. You know, so he had a very troubled childhood. And so he walked here, he streamed it on Facebook, he wrote a book with the same title, appeared in a movie in Poland, et cetera, you know, and then he was giving talks. He said things against Our Lady and Jesus only, and then he's also he seems to be against the visionaries here, and but then he also attacked the cross and he burned the altar. You know, none of that makes sense. He's um it doesn't fit together. So I I don't think it's charitable or kind or accurate to label him as a Protestant or as his actions as though they were driven by his alleged Protestantism. I don't think he is. Who knows what went on? But um the Polish media is contrasting his former life, uh I mean converged converted life with his actions yesterday. So I don't know, but um you know, we were all shocked here, but I I'd say here the priests, the Franciscans, and the people in general, we're praying for his conversion and we're making acts of reparation to our lady. You know, the outrage against her images is remember is one of the things in the five first Saturday devotions, you know, from Our Lady of Fatima. So it is an outrage. Um whether he's in his right mind or not, who knows? Still a lot of damage has been done. Um that poor man, probably he should answer for it. But I think he he I suspect also he would be met with mercy and forgiveness by the village here. That's my guess.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure, Father Leon and how he gets there to do all these things. Is there's no security guard in the place, Father?

SPEAKER_00

Or there's a security guard at the church. Now, yeah, but the hill, you know, there's always someone at the hill. I don't know how he managed to turn up at a time when there was hardly anyone. Who knows what we might have done? But I suspect I wouldn't have run. I I would not tolerate this against our mother. But who knows? Yeah, the proof for the pudding is in the eating. So maybe if I was put to the test, maybe I would have run away too. There was a priest who's who came upon all the banners, I think, in around four something or earlier, and he brought the banner apparently down to the church to show it to the security guard. And then the next minute the fire started. So while he was talking to the security, the guy was starting a fire at the outside altar. So it's strange how I guess you know they we can never underestimate bystander apathy. You know, when you see someone stepping into the sanctuary, I think most people would assume, oh, he's got a good reason to be there. And they thought it was something normal. They saw the fire starting in the church and thought, oh, maybe this is a Majigore thing. So yeah, I think fires where there should not be fires is not normal anywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Dancing in the sun dancing of the father.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think the problem is many of us would just sort of freeze, I think, in this kind of situation and think, oh, maybe he should be there, maybe he has permission, who knows what he's doing. I don't dare interfere. Yeah, but you're right. I think uh we'll have to see what the parish does about this. Perhaps they will revisit their security measures, perhaps not. You know, you guys are relaxed. I can imagine that they do they wouldn't want to impose too many restrictions or control, you know. But at the same time, they have a duty to ensure that the place doesn't burn down.

SPEAKER_01

How did they find the perpetrator's father? How did they how did they know that his location?

SPEAKER_00

I think they didn't know his location. It was a local in Cerno, a young kid, a young skinny kid, who went up to him and asked him, Are you Polish? And the guy, I think he said yes, and then he changed his mind and said he was from the Netherlands or something. And this boy, he leapt on him and wrestled him to the ground. And they called the police. So, you know, I I think you obviously, you know, the locals they can tell, you know, you're not local and what are you doing in someone's private field, I suppose, you know, so they would have realized probably he was up to no good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, thank you, thank you for sharing, Father. But before before we dive in more onto that, Father, for those who may not know your story, can you briefly share your first encounter of our lady of Mejigore? Just briefly, just briefly, Father.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I owe the recovery of my faith to our lady of Mejigore when I was 17. You know, we heard I I'm from Singapore, not too far from you. And uh we heard about Mejigorie between 1985 and 92, or 91 even, there were a lot of there was a lot of information about Mejigore and a lot of pilgrimages organized from Singapore to Mejoria. So it was around that time I heard about it and uh believed and came back to the practice of my faith. So I'm forever grateful to Our Lady for doing that, obtaining this great grace for me. Oh, and you want to know what happened briefly, because it sounds bizarre. But and I think if people are interested, they probably can find it on YouTube somewhere. But on that first trip here, 1991, yeah, early in the morning from between four o'clock and six in the morning, I from the fields on the way to Cross Mountain. Cross Mountain is the big mountain here with a huge cross on the top, and uh with the way of the cross on all the way to the top. And I saw a young girl standing where the cross is, made of this very bright light. She, her hands, her face, her clothes, everything made of this light. And she was alive and watching us. I was not alone more than uh me and my friend Kevin. We both saw her. And you should interview Kevin. Please connect me to him. Okay, well, I don't think he'll thank me because he's very shy about these things. His children heard it, and he said thanks a lot. He said at the dinner table, his kids were looking at him like he was some kind of freak. Because he never told his immediate family, um, certainly not his kids. And yeah, so we watched this young girl who was watching us. But I don't think this was too unusual. I mean, a lot of local people in those days certainly have seen her, but I don't think many of them talk about it. They're very private here in Herzegovina. Have you got an overactive imagination, or is it a deception from the devil or something? You know, you're all of these possibilities could be true, you know. And but this girl was beautiful and young. Uh I would say about 16. And Thomas Aquinas from my order, he's got a very famous axiom. He says, Everything received is received according to the manner of the recipient. You know, so for example, in Rwanda, Kibeho, the visionaries there, they see our lady. They describe her as having Rwandan eyes, you know. In uh Polo Cabra in the Philippines, I think they saw her as uh Filipina, uh slightly older than them, they were teenagers. Um here in Majigori, they describe her as looking like a Croatian young lady, young woman. But I saw her as someone I was 20 years old at the time. I saw her as younger than me, I would estimate 16, 17, 18. I'm not very good at ages, but and smaller than me. So I'm uh you know five foot seven, so she's pretty small. Well, maybe not by Asian standards, by Asian standards if you know it was a beautiful experience. But as I always tell the pilgrims here, you know, seeing our lady is one thing, but at Mass you receive Jesus in the Eucharist, and that is way better and uh much bigger gift, you know, uh infinitely more precious because Jesus, it's Jesus Himself. So we have to have a perspective on these things. Treasure the Marriage, treasure Holy Mass and receiving communion, and receive communion in a state of grace, go to confession, live the sacramental life, be converted, be at peace, forgive, pray the rosary daily, the complete rosary.

SPEAKER_01

The message in Five Stones.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. Recently, um a few five days ago, uh our lady's message here, she talked about uh putting scripture in a prominent place, you know. Oh yeah. Must check the message itself. Little children, place the sacred scripture in a visible place in your family and read it, that it may be an incentive for you to conversion and a new life, because Satan is strong and seduces hearts. Read the sacred scriptures, especially the gospels. You know, people always they make up their own fantasy Jesus because they're not familiar with the gospels, and they make Jesus after their own image, where you know, and then the only line of the gospel they know is thou shalt not judge, you know, how dare you judge me. And that's that's the only thing they know, nothing else. You know, but scripture also says, or Jesus says, judge with righteous judgment, you know. I often say to people, if there's a man running at you holding a knife and shouting something that sounds like Alan's snack bar or something like that, you know, would you say, Oh, who am I to judge? No, we have to judge.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

If someone is in the swimming pool shouting, help, help, do we say, Oh, I don't want to judge, maybe they're just fooling around and I don't want to embarrass them. No, we have to judge. Judge with righteous judgment. When Jesus says, judge not lest ye be judged, he's talking about outright condemnation. Don't say, Yeah, you are definitely going to hell. No one. So also this poor man whoever did this thing at the shrine here, this desecration, you know. We have to pray for him. Pray for him and forgive him and love him. Absolutely. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What what is the atmosphere their father? I think uh people I think the pilgrim are angry, or what's their emotion?

SPEAKER_00

No, there's actually a great joy here in a piece. You know, after the statues came back and they cleaned up, now they look better than ever. They haven't been clean in 25 years. So, you know, since the statue went in place, so it looks beautiful, really, really beautiful. So people are actually very, very happy. And the and also it's united the the whole village and all the pilgrims. So people are going up the the hill in droves to pray with our lady and to make reparation. So, yeah, so there's a lot of group good coming out of this already. It's beautiful, really beautiful. It happened for a reason, Father. Well, God has brought a greater good out of this evil.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you're so fortunate and you're blessed to see our lady.

SPEAKER_00

I'm blessed to receive communion.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Remember. Keep your perspective.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But still the bit in your mind, her face, father, the first time you saw her.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. She looked like Our Lady of Gu Guadalupe. I can't answer that. I think you know everyone, everyone sees according to their the limitations of their own imagination and mind and all that, you know. So maybe my what I saw is shaped by my own images of Our Lady, maybe. I don't know. Although she didn't she didn't look look like any statue or picture of our lady that I've seen. She looked very young, very strong, and radiating authority and love. Those are the two words I would use. Authority. Like there was nothing to fear seeing her, nothing to fear at all. You know? If if the devil had chosen to appear next to me, I wouldn't have cared. I wouldn't have looked. I just knew I was looking at this most beautiful young lass.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Father, I'm I'm curious, what is your initial reaction when you find out what the desecration happened yesterday?

SPEAKER_00

I had to sit down. I maybe I'm showing my age. I had to sit down with shock and I cried when I heard when I saw the pictures. So I didn't go. I didn't go to the hill because I couldn't bear to see it. You know, it looked terrible what he had done. I couldn't imagine, you know. I thought it at the time I thought maybe it was a group of people. I couldn't imagine one person doing this. Yeah. So uh so unnecessary and so terrible. And setting the altar area on fire. But you know, the altar escaped. And the cross, the wooden cross above escaped. It didn't catch fire, it didn't get burnt. So that was a miracle.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Because I saw it, the fire just instantly. The whole place went on fire.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, a certain man this morning he said to me, he said, Father, I've had depression, but I don't go around committing arson. You know, so it well I don't know, I don't know what's going on in his life. But yeah, I think well, they have to examine him and see what's going on. But I think yeah, they must find out the truth. Right. But to me, I don't know. To me, none of it adds up. I but he's it's not uh anti-Catholic, it's not I wouldn't even say it's anti-Mejigore, although he denounces the visionaries, you know. But it just it's like a mad act. But you know, I mean, uh people all around the world, whatever they feel about Mejigore, this is an outrage against our ladies' images and the cross. So uh whether they are for or against Mejgore is irrelevant, I think. And I think a lot of people see that. You know, this is this is a terrible outrage against the holy things, sacred things.

SPEAKER_01

What's the initial reaction of the visionary?

SPEAKER_00

I haven't spoken to them about this, so I don't know. Um I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I So forgiveness should be the first response, even though it's not a good thing.

SPEAKER_00

We should pray for him. You know, he's clearly in need of prayer.

SPEAKER_01

And Father Leon says this vandalism is proof that Majigori is under serious spiritual attack because it is authentic.

SPEAKER_00

Majigori is like a seems to be like a stumbling block for people. You know, it's um it for so many people is the cause of their conversion, of their vocations, of their healings. And then for other Catholics, it provokes an instant reaction against it, you know, like a really strong reaction. Yeah, I remember I was looking at some images online, and you immediately you always get these trolls underneath posting, and one one person wrote there is not approved. Majigore is not approved. But you know, it's like Yeah, well, whoever that person is, would you say that on October 12th, 1917, in Fatima to the 100,000 who are going to the to the apparition on the next day and who saw the miracle of the sun. In fact, Fatima wasn't approved until 1930. So even on October 13th, when 100,000 people tell you we saw the miracle of the sun, are you going to say, Well, it's not approved? I don't care, I'm not going. Okay. You know, this is the crazy kind of thinking because the church's criteria for judging the authenticity of an apparition includes are people going before approval? And if they are, that's usually taken as a positive sign. So for Lourdes and Fatima, when they were approved, one of the reasons given was people coming before the approval. So, you know, when when when you get these crazy reactions, I cra I say crazy because troll-like reactions, uh like a knee-jeck reflex, you know, like it's not approved. Well, okay. You'd you wouldn't have been there at Fatima with 100,000 either. You wouldn't have been in Lourdes and seen the early miracles. You would have been sat in the cafe being miserable. If you want to, that's your choice. No one can help you, no one can save you from your own choices. But but if you're open, you know, there's so much grace poured out in this place. I know some people try and reduce Majigore to like a spiritual pick me up, you know, they come here and they feel better. This I don't think accounts for what is actually happening here. The conversions, the healings, so many and the vocations. And also the rescuing of vocations. I don't know how many priests I've heard now who said that Majigory saved their priesthood. This is the grace of God working here. Whether you agree with the apparitions or not, Holy Mother Church will tell us when she's good and ready. And and in fact, the judgment of the church right now is Nihil Obstadt, the highest approval that the church will currently give, which is no objection, nothing standing in the way. But you have eyes to see and ears to hear. There are there's so much grace poured out in this place.

SPEAKER_01

I've seen many testimonies, and I talked to people about their conversion and how this miraculous place impacted their life and their vocation, Father.

SPEAKER_00

So many for uh confessions, confessions, non-stop. And you know, and people who haven't been to confession in years, donkeys years. My record is 63 years.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

You know, to hear 50 years is very normal here. People come from all around the world who haven't been probably since their first confession for different reasons.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. And and father many are quick saying the perpet the perpetrator must have been demonically influenced. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know how we can answer that. Because the devil has really hit the lady. Yeah, yeah. You you can certainly say that you can say that he probably had some sort of demonic aid because he seemed to have made this attack when suddenly there was no one around, which is which never happens here. So maybe. But whether he's uh possessed, that's another matter which we don't know. And also I think he has to, if he's in his right mind, he should answer for it himself, not hide behind the excuse of demons. But yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It might be an excuse.

SPEAKER_00

So we should find out for sure.

SPEAKER_01

And father, the message have always called for peace. So after someone tried to destroy the image of the Queen of Peace, does peace still feel feels like the right first word right now, Father?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. Really, you know, this it there's great joy in the village and in the parish, and going up the hill and where the statue is, and also at the the outside altar, you can see people are relieved. You know, I think it helps that you know the cleanup work happened very quickly and everything was restored. You know, when everything was defaced, it was heartbreaking to see, but but they restored it so quickly. Amazing work. But is the the those Chinocalo boys, they did all this very quickly in that heat, working non-stop.

SPEAKER_01

They do this for the reparation, I mean, for redemptive suffering. Yeah, redemptive suffering.

SPEAKER_00

They do all kinds of things. They those same lads and also some other boys from the village and the area around here, they will carry pilgrims up the mountain, those who can't walk. You know, so they do a lot of these kinds of things.

SPEAKER_01

You once said that Mejigori is not from God, it will die out after your personal experience so far, Lady. Do you still hold that statement with the same peace father?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, of course, of course. Yeah. If Majigori is not from God, I think it would have died out a long time ago. People often accuse Mejigori of being an orchestration by someone, and usually the poor Franciscans are blamed. You know, when you come here, you'll see how disorganized everything is. This who is in charge, but still something happens. I mean, you know, everything happens and takes place. Well, I say disorganized, I'm not trying to sl to slander the poor Franciscans. They they do their best, but you know what I mean is they they run the place with a light touch. There's not like oppressive control over every little thing. But you know, at the same time, we have to follow the norms of the church. For example, things like um, you know, priests coming and uh praying over people and uh trying to expel demons and causing drama and chaos, all those things are frowned upon and stopped immediately. You're not allowed to do all that sort of thing, you know. And the mass is supposed to be celebrated in the church and not nil willy-nilly wherever people like. Only in the designated areas, you know, the the few chapels dotted around. So yeah. But that's the extent of the control. It's to follow liturgical norms, you know. But yeah, there isn't people always say that it's some someone is behind it, but who is that? And for all these years, surely they would have gone tired. But then they think because of the money they're aching here. Well, what money? Where has it gone? Yeah, but you hear all sorts of strange things, you know. Recently, a few weeks ago, I was on Catholic Unscripted, and before me there had been someone, a professor condemning Mejigory. And I didn't watch his interview, but the interviewers they told me that one of his accusations was people disappearing in Mejigory. You know, and I started laughing. I don't think that part was broadcast. This was, you know, I was laughing, like, who has disappeared and where? You know, as though this is some huge human trafficking racket here. You know, if you come here, it's a village and a parish, and that's it. I don't know what people imagine this place is like, but they need to come and see for themselves.

SPEAKER_01

Uh it's one of my Bakh Bakhet Least. And what do you think if Mama Mary were to speak to you after the after this attack, what would she say, Father?

SPEAKER_00

I think what she's always said, be reconciled, peace. Pray for your conversion and the conversion of others. Pray for those who have not yet come to know the love of God. The things that she's always said. I don't think she changed anything just because of this attack.

SPEAKER_01

And father, after everything, your conversion, your vocation, years of service, and now this desecration, what is the one thing your personal encounter with our lady has taught you that you want every viewer to remember?

SPEAKER_00

Remember that the Catholic faith is utterly beautiful. You know, we are so blessed to be Catholic Christians and to have the sacraments and to have the communion of saints and all our devotions and our liturgy, properly celebrated, our liturgy and these are all very beautiful things, and we should cherish them. Live the sacramental life. You know, don't be a stranger to God, don't treat God as someone you turn to only when you need something. Be his friend. And also cherish the simple things, the uh I say simple things, adoration and personal prayer, especially of the rosary, and mass, and prepare for mass with silence before and recollection after and thanksgiving after. You know, don't don't just go to mass in all sorts of ways and you know and be distracted.

SPEAKER_01

And Father, uh maybe uh I will shift gear here, and there's uh some question from our viewers before we we wrap up. So what's your reaction on what's what's what is happening now in the world? The war, this alien disclosure, all these crazy things that the word are happening.

SPEAKER_00

Inflation, hyperinflation, uh threat of wars, and I mean Jesus Jesus says there will be wars and rumors of war. You know, all these things will happen. We're not to be perturbed by all these things. And also Pope Benedict reminds us that the only thing to fear is sin inside the church. You know, that's the only thing we should fear. And we should have an ambition, desire to be saints, pursue this ambition. But as for what's happening in the world, it could get worse, it could get better, but you know, what is given to me is to to uh be converted myself. I can't change any anyone else. Start with yourselves, can be converted. That's what I'd say. And don't be afraid, you know? Perfect love casts out all fear. So if you have divine love in your charity, then you will not be afraid.

SPEAKER_01

Uh what can she say about refuge, father? Yes, refuge. There are mystics are talking about refuge. There will be a chastisement, there will be a refuge.

SPEAKER_00

All I can think of in Fatima, I think she said, My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge. My immaculate heart will be your refuge. Well, you know, a physical refuge, like a geographical refuge? I don't know. Important refuge is is um, you know, immaculate heart. That's what we should focus on, rather than trying to save our skins, you know. Absolutely, father.

SPEAKER_01

And there's another question here, Father. Being so close to our lady, no doubt, there will be probably be more temptation that you encounter. What's your emergency or short go-to prayer when faced with those? Do you pray it aloud or just mentally?

SPEAKER_00

It depends where I am. If I'm in public, then probably not. Sometimes I might pray aloud, but I think most often I probably pray mentally. But you also have to be prepared, you know? You have to put on the armor of God. Because we are contending with uh evil spirits as well out there, not just evil people, but and the evil within us, but also evil spirits. So don't be naive, but at the same time, don't be obsessed with those things.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have a go-to prayer, Father, Leon? Rosary. Rosary. Rosary, yeah. Yeah. Mostly those. Thank you, Father. And there's a last question from viewers here. I would like to know his opinion on these data centers being built around the world, their danger and possible connection to end-time prophecy. I I don't know what a data center is. Because in our country, there's a hub that will build here that we consigned it with the United States. It's Paxilika Father, and it's we it's very controversial how it will uh affect the environment because it is so big, more than 400 arenas. What is it for? Data storage? It's a I hub, something like for technologies.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I can't really comment on something I I've only just heard of.

SPEAKER_01

They will put their data center here and I don't know what's the father.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

I you never uh heard it around Midjugari father?

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

No. How's the I mean the people there? Are they active on social media and using AI? I mean, how's the most people live simple life? I mean, I'm I'm not familiar.

SPEAKER_00

I think the most people below a certain age probably have some social media. I have zero, so I don't even know how these things work. I've never had anything, not even Facebook. Really? Really? Yeah, yeah. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Thankfully you are WhatsApp.

SPEAKER_00

What's up? And even then, well, it's better not to have anything, I think, although it'd be harder to be correct.

SPEAKER_01

Right. But are you still in tune with news, father? You what's happening in in in the world right now?

SPEAKER_00

Little bit, yes. Yes. I don't uh actively look up things, but also uh just a little bit. I can't try and restrict it. You know, otherwise what do they call it? Doom scrolling or something. Keep going. Absolutely. Yes. Looking at different videos of dogs or cats or something, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yes. Why still love being Catholic?

SPEAKER_00

Because because I love Jesus and Jesus loves me. You know, because because being Catholic is to be fully obedient to what Jesus has given us. It's to be a real biblical Christian, is to be Catholic. Absolutely. So it's about Jesus in the end.

SPEAKER_01

Jesus win, Christ is king. Yes, absolutely. And before we end, could you please tell our viewers where we're how they can follow your work, Father Leon? Follow my work. Yes. Your home release. I saw you online. I mean your home lease was being posted.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there's on YouTube, I think Mary TV will post my homilies. It's called Sermon to Go. So those are for Sundays and Solemnities. And then there's another one I do also with Mary TV on YouTube, which is Fry the Friar, where people will email me questions. So if you want, you can email questions, questions on the faith, you know, and I try and answer. So those are the two shows so far. And hopefully I hope to start uh another one soon, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_01

I see. And for those people who want to go to Menjigori Father, what to do?

SPEAKER_00

Just come fly here, fly to Croatia or to Bosnia and come here. I think it's better if it's your first time to come with a group, because you you won't know what to do otherwise. So I think look for a group that's coming from your part of the world and join them. And hopefully you have a priest as a director, spiritual director that will help, I think, a great deal. But that's what I would do.

SPEAKER_01

Who's now the new English chaplain, Father?

SPEAKER_00

Father, there's two of them, Father Jason and Father Matt.

SPEAKER_01

What's your next plan, Father, after being a chaplain?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we'll see. We'll see what God intends, but who knows?

SPEAKER_01

Before we ask you for a closing prayer and a blessing, Father, is there something you want to pray for?

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm in general, pray for me, but uh pray for this man, the this perpetrator here. Pray for him. He will need a lot of prayers.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Yeah, we will, Father.

SPEAKER_00

So we'll do that. Actually, let's pray together for him now, and then I'll give you a blessing. Sure, sure.

SPEAKER_01

You may lead Father.

SPEAKER_00

A name of the Father and of the Son, Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

We'll pray the Hail Mary for him. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of thy Father. Amen. Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all these viewers here and those with good will who are seeking our Lord. Show them your face, O Lord. Grant them your mercy and your grace. Give them a deeper relationship with you, and give them the joy and protection of our Lady Queen of Peace and Joseph St. Michael and all their patron saints. And may Almighty God bless you, the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. What a powerful, beautiful prayer, Father Leon, Ferreira. And thank you again, Father, for saying yes. I mean, you're a busy man doing some stuff in Mejigori, but you still graciously say yes to this invitation. And we appreciate that, Father, and rest assured of our prayers and hope to see you in the future, Father. In God's eyes. Thank you, Father, and please uh remember me in your mass and in prayer. Thank you, Father.

SPEAKER_03

God bless. Bye-bye.
